The Alliance Public Library is hosting a Total Eclipse Science Fair this summer for students entering 1st through 12th grades. This is a great opportunity for students to be creative, use the scientific process, and learn about the total solar eclipse occurring Monday, August 21. Projects can be from any branch of science (physical, biological, or even social), but must relate in some way to the eclipse.  Students will research a question and present their results in exhibit form, which will be displayed in the library August 14 through 21. Students will present their work to the judges Monday, August 21 at 4:00 p.m.

There are four age categories with a $100 prize for the best exhibit in each category sponsored by the Alliance Public Library Foundation.  Complete rules and registration forms are available at the library.

The public is invited to view the displays the week before the eclipse and receive a free pair of eclipse glasses, provided courtesy of the Moore Foundation (with additional help from Google and the Research Corporation), and to watch the presentations. For more information, please contact Elaine Bleisch, Children and Youth Services Librarian, at 762-1387.
