Phyllis L. Drumheller, 90, of Alliance, died Friday, March 25, 2016 at Box Butte General Hospital in Alliance. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 29, 2016 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church in Alliance with Rev. Martin Schnare and Pastor Richard Mueller officiating. Interment will follow at 2 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Scottsbluff. Visitation will be held from 5-7 p.m., Monday, March 28, 2016 at Jolliffe Funeral Home in Scottsbluff. Memorials may be made to the Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church Endowment Fund or Save the Track. Phyllis was born January 1, 1926, in Scribner, Nebraska to Phillip A. and Grace A. (Dahl) Westphalen. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1944.
Phyllis married Alex Drumheller on June 11, 1944 in Scottsbluff. Phyllis and Alex farmed in the Minatare and Alliance areas for nearly 30 years before retiring and returning to Scottsbluff in 1977. Phyllis returned to Alliance in 1995.
Phyllis worked at Woolworths for 17 years and later Walmart as a greeter. She enjoyed knitting and cooking and her grandchildren never left her house without cookies. Phyllis loved to attend her grandchildren’s school events and sports. She participated in several bible study groups and other church activities throughout the years. She was a member of the American Legion Supper Club, St. John’s Lutheran Church and Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Marvin (Rita) of Plaza, ND, Myron (Betty) of Papillion, NE, Mina (Steve) Bessey of Papillion, NE, and Merlin (Sally) of Alliance; 19 grandchildren; 38 great grandchildren; 11 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.
Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alex in 1987; son, Leland; two sisters; and one brother.
