GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) – A single-engine airplane landed safely in a field in Campbell County after its engine quit.
The incident occurred about 5:45 p.m. Sunday.
The pilot, who was the only person on board, was not hurt and there was no obvious signs of damage to the 1959 Cessna.
Campbell County Undersheriff Quentin Reynolds did not release the pilot’s name, saying he was a 55-year-old man from Washington.
Reynolds says the pilot reported mechanical problems about 12 miles south of Gillette.
Officials from the Federal Aeronautics Administration were investigating.
